I’m always on the look-out for one-of-a-kind and unique design inspirations.  So, a couple of weeks ago my daughter, Jillian, visited the Old Hickory Whiskey Bar in Pensacola, Fl and was SO impressed with their unique lighting!!  The lighting was so fun she said we had to do a blog on “Showstopper Lighting”.  So, here we go…… from liquor bottles to fish swimming in the shadows, from jellyfish suspended in air to felted fuchsia chandeliers, we want to share our FAVORITES with you!!!

Liquor Bottle Pendants at Old Hickory

These lights are one of the most creative fixtures I’ve seen yet.  When you walk into the Old Hickory Whiskey Bar, you’ll find old whiskey casks, bags of rye hanging from the walls, and gorgeous vintage seating to lounge and enjoy your cocktail.  Hanging above these beautiful armchairs and sofas are empty decanters arranged in several different circles to create gorgeous unique lighting in their lounge area.  If you don’t notice these fixtures at first, you certainly won’t miss the bottles of Jack Daniels lit up across the bar!

Naturally, my first question was how in the world did they do this?!  Katie Garrett, the owner of Old Hickory, said that they had these chandeliers custom made from the same artists on Etsy from whom she bought the hanging pendants over the bar.  We always love one of a kind, artisan pieces, but this one definitely takes the cake for most creative!!!

Shoal Collection by Scabetti

The Shoal Collection by Scabetti is not only unique lighting, but true artistry.  Each fish is completely hand made, sculpted and detailed from fine bone china.  These custom lighting fixtures can range from enormous lobby pieces to tabletop lamps, depending on your needs and style.  The way that Scabetti uses lighting to refract from one fish onto the other creates this absolutely stunning schooling effect, for lighting that truly comes alive!

“Medusae” Collection by Roxy Russell

We may have a bit of a soft spot for marine décor, but there is NO denying that this jellyfish inspired collection is truly breathtaking.  I love that they can be hung as pictured in a line, or why not arrange them in a circle for more of a chandelier effect?  I think I need these in my Cape house ASAP!

Bespoke Lighting by Katelyn Aslett

WOW!  These hand-crafted, hand-dyed light fixtures are made from felted wool and designed by artist Katelyn Aslett.  Here is another gorgeous artisan piece that is honestly unlike anything I have ever seen!  I would LOVE to see these lighting installations in person to truly appreciate the vibrant colors and textures that stand out so beautifully!
