I have to admit, it took me a while to fully embrace the myriad of animal prints that are available in Interior Design. I just never quite “got” pink leopard prints! Well, it’s been a while and I’ve come around. In fact, now I actually LOVE a little ”walk on the wild side!” Animal motifs have gone from faux skin prints on fabric to just about anything….and with just about any animal, too!
I never really know what is going to inspire me to write a blog post – sometimes, it’s just a product I see that gets me going. Such was the case with this one… I walked into the Kravet Boston Showroom and saw this beautiful elephant embroidered fabric. It’s so hard to appreciate from a picture but it truly is gorgeous! So, this blue elephant morphed into a zoo full of animals, on everything from furniture, to pillows, to rugs. Take a walk on the wild side with me and let’s have some FUN with animal decor!
When I first saw this furniture by Judy Kensly McKie I was in awe of her artistry. This is truly bespoke furniture with imagination! I love the artistic use of materials and design! Simply stunning!
And then we have Wild Designs that takes animals and turns them into furniture. What do you think?
Not all animal design has to be serious. I just love the whimsy that Jonathan Adler creates, and this elephant lamp is just adorable! I want one!!! A little more whimsy in this animal platter and some pillows, bedding, rugs and dishes. And that dog from Currey is just too cute!
I think I’ve come a long way from my ambivalent days and have truly embraced this animal-themed decor. What do you think? Yay or nay??
