A Vintage Affair

February in Boston is never my favorite time of year, and this year it’s even less. With over 3 feet of snow on the ground and another foot forecast for the weekend, I’m trying my best to find something redeemable about the time of year. Next week is Valentine’s Day and a good excuse to get out of the winter doldrums and spruce things up.

Valentine’s Day decor always brings me back to my vintage china and tablecloths. I find myself pulling out my grandmother’s china cups and lace doilies, and doing a lot more “layering” and “cozying up” with nostalgic items than I do any other time of the year. This year it’s been especially fun because my daughter, Jillian, has chosen a “vintage” theme for her September wedding. So, with everything I’m pulling out of the hope chest I’m thinking of wedding bells. Here are some vintage inspirations that just take me back in time to a quieter place and space.
