After receiving so many positive responses to our wedding blogs, and in celebration of the upcoming wedding season, I’ve enlisted the help of my daughter, Jillian, to write the next series of blogs dedicated to “everything weddings”. As a bride-to-be, she can share some of her experiences and ideas on all aspects of planning the perfect wedding and it’s many fun events. So… take it away Jillian! First up: our favorite bridal shower themes!
1. For the Laid-Back Bride: Poolside Brunch
The two greatest words to a laid-back gal: “pool” and “brunch”. So, why not put these fantastic events together to create a fun and relaxed event where everyone will feel at ease!? One of my biggest fears as a bride-to-be is all of the pressure that comes with being the center of attention on this day, and having a giant pool party seems like such a great idea to keep everyone amused!
2. For the “Girly-Girl”: Vintage Tea Party
My wedding will have a definite vintage feel, so I really love this idea incorporated into a tea party bridal shower. Although it may be a bit too girly for me, a vintage style tea party could be the perfect ticket for that bride who loves to bring out her feminine side. Complete with macaroons and dainty cupcakes, this shower would be a simply gorgeous affair!
3. For the Southern Belle: A Day At The Races
Here’s another theme that wouldn’t exactly be my number choice, but come on, who wouldn’t love a chance to wear a giant floppy hat with your best friends?! I have to admit, it would be totally worth it to see some of my family get into character 🙂
4. For the Earthy Bride: Shabby Chic
Where the vintage tea party took a turn towards the ultimate “girly”, a shabby chic shower would have that same vintage root, but embellish more with florals and a rustic vibe. I love the idea of using lots of fresh flowers and greens, and you could even take it one step further and make the menu an all-natural feast!
5. For the Beach Bum: “Just Maui-ed”
Talk about a honeymoon BEFORE the honeymoon!! This shower is like a vacation in itself- palm trees, lais, and hula skirts? Sign me up! This is an event that not only the bride would love, but I think the guests would enjoy the mini vacation, too. Maybe some drinks served in coconuts to go with those cupcakes?
