Something about the changing of seasons always makes me want to freshen up my home.
In Fall, it’s all about bringing in those warm tones and spicy smells (hello, pumpkin spice everything!). Winter, of course, with holiday decor and plenty of oh-so-cozy textures. Spring and summer are my favorite times to lighten the place up and give my home a fresh, breezy feel.
Of course you can’t go changing everything in your home every time you crave a new look, but luckily there are a few quick and easy things you CAN do that will totally revamp your room.
Change Out Your Window Treatments
This is most easily done if you have curtain panels. Go out to your favorite home decor spot and browse through the panels to find a new color, print, or texture that you want to try out. You’ll be surprised at what a huge difference this makes! Tip: Make sure you take a photo of your room to bring with you so that you can get a good idea of what will look best.
Update Your Rugs
For the biggest “WOW” factor, replacing an area rug is the way to go. However, this can often be a daunting task, not to mention pricey. If that’s not in your budget, new floor mats are the next best thing, and give you a good bang for your buck. Think: doormats, kitchen mats, and bath mats. There are so many different options here, and we love to get a little funky!
Give Your Linen Closet a Makeover
Updating your kitchen? Find some cute new dish towels and oven mitts to display. Table linens such as placemats, napkins, tablecloths, and runners will make your dining room look brand new. In your bedroom, the most obvious change will be to find some new bedding.
When I want to change up a room, sometimes instant gratification is the most satisfying. In this case, I usually go to one of my favorite nearby stores that carries everything I need (try HomeGoods, Pier 1, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, or West Elm). Load up that cart, and get shopping!
