Fall Decorating: 101

That’s right, pumpkin spice season is finally upon us!  Soon we’ll be surrounded by crisp, falling leaves, warm apple pie, and sweet cider doughnuts.

As you pull out your sweaters and dust off your favorite Fall boots, consider adding a little “pumpkin spice” to your home decor, too!  Warm colors and soft, cozy textures will add the perfect seasonal touch to your space.

Here are a few of our favorites to help get your creative juices flowing!  (For even more inspiration, make sure to check out Autumn Textures , A Fall Festival for Your Front Door! , and Sweater Weather That Isn’t Just for Your Wardrobe)

Lauren Conrad is one of our favorites for DIY seasonal trends, and we think this Fall wreath is just so sweet.  The colors are perfect for carrying right through the Winter holidays, too!

Or, if you still want that feel without the big commitment of a new area rug, try a few throw pillows and blankets in cozy, warm colors (Think: orange, red, yellow, brown…).

Sweater Weather That Isn’t Just For Your Wardrobe!

Yesterday in Boston it was 85 degrees, this morning it was 55!  Fall is in the air, and that means… sweater weather!  There’s nothing like a soft cozy sweater on a crisp day to warm you right up.  Why not switch up your home decor with some “sweaters” to cozy up your interiors as well?

One of my favorite “sweaters” is a fisherman knit afghan that my mom knitted for my bridal shower many years ago.  Every year it comes out with its long tassels, and finds a home draped over my sofa.  I like a cool house (even in the winter) so we use our throws a lot.

I like pillows to feel soft.  I love the old sweater look of this one.  It seems cable knit is in this year and it’s popping up on everything.  From pillows…

We’re seeing a lot of fringe this year in the clothing industry and that just filters right down to the home.

I love small ottomans.  They can be used as a footstool, an extra seat, or put a tray on it for an end table.  This one from Surya (who we love!) adds a little cozy to your room

Nothing seems warmer in the fall and winter than a cozy log cabin, and this bedding embodies just that.  The rustic design and that fuzzy pillow bring that cozy cabin design right to any home.

For a cleaner, simpler look, this bedding set from West Elm has the same cable knit feel, yet with a lighter weight design.
